Case Notes
These case notes describe room conditions before and after styling documentation was issued. Client names and exact addresses are withheld. All projects were completed in the Exeter area.
Rear lean-to with polycarbonate roof, no planting plan, and a single wicker chair blocking the door to the garden. Afternoon sun made the room unusable from May to September. Heavitree stone dwarf wall buried behind stacked boxes.
Layout sheet repositioned seating to the north wall, specified roof vents and pleated blinds, and exposed 400 mm of stone plinth with a bench seat. Plant zones Z1 and Z3 assigned to ferns and pelargoniums. Room used daily through summer.
Empty Victorian conservatory added by previous owner; white UPVC frames clashed with red sandstone house. No furniture schedule, no connection to the mature Devon garden. Cold in winter despite electric heater.
Material note recommended powder-coated grey-green frames to complement stone. Furniture sheet placed dining table for six with 900 mm circulation path. Shading note added trench heater beneath bi-fold track. Trench detail passed to client's installer.
Glazed link between cottage and converted barn leaked heat at cob junction. Link used as storage corridor; plants died from overheating on south panel. Exe estuary humidity caused mould on curtains.
Glazed-link junction detail specified flexible seal at cob wall. Plant zones moved to east elevation only. Vent schedule added monthly opening reminders April through September. Link now reads as a garden passage with olive in pot F03.
